BANJ is dedicated to promoting the cultural and ethnic heritage of the Bangladeshi community in New Jersey. Every year, it organizes several cultural programs, seminars and an annual picnic to celebrate Bengali heritage and culture, and improve the communication among the members of the community. BANJ also acts as the representative of the Bangladeshi community of New Jersey to national events such as FOBANA (Forum of Bangladeshi Associations of North America) Conference, Nazrul Sammelon, and other cultural and literary conferences. BANJ has been active in addressing issues in local and national areas. Members of BANJ participate on various local and national forums that serve the interests of Bangladeshi community. It also uses its resources to help critical causes such as helping the flood victims of Bangladesh.

  

BANJ Fundraising and Distribution 2024

BANJ Humanitarian Efforts: Supporting Bangladesh Flood Victims and Injured Students

The Bangladesh Association of New Jersey (BANJ) proudly announces its successful fundraising campaign, collecting approximately 14 lakh taka (over $11,000 USD). These funds were distributed among Bangladesh flood victims and injured students, providing crucial support during times of need.    

Flood Victims Support:
The funds helped families affected by the devastating floods in Bangladesh, particularly in:
1. Chittagong (Moheshkhali) region: 300 families received food, shelter, and medical aid.
2. Sunamganj district: 200 families received financial assistance for rebuilding homes.
3. Netrokona area: 200 families received emergency food and clothing.

BANJ collaborated with the local organizations to ensure efficient fund distribution:

 1. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society
 2. Chittagong District Administration

 3. Local NGOs and community groups
